Syringe Free Injections
If you are like so many of us who fear the dreaded needle, we can help! Together with a numbing gel (which is placed on the soft tissue prior to the injection) and our ‘Wand’, you can be confident your visit will be a comfortable and pleasant one. People who are needle phobic often fear the sting of the injection, but in fact it is actually the fast rate at which the anaesthetic is injected that can be painful. The ‘Wand’ is a computer controlled dental injection which ensures a slow and steady flow of anaesthetic and therefore a much more pleasant experience. Our patients often tell us that they didn’t feel a thing!

Relaxation Therapies
Pounding heart, cold sweats, and that horrible feeling of dread? We understand that you may not love coming to the dentist, that you may really hate the sound of the drill, the needle or just want to have some extra TLC. We take the time to discuss your concerns about coming to the dentist and will do all we can to make you relaxed and comfortable. If you find you are still experiencing dental anxiety, I.V. Sedation, performed through an intravenous drip, may be an appropriate alternative. This will leave you relaxed and at easy throughout treatment and you will wake up with no memory of the procedure. We also offer treatment under general anaesthetic at a local hospital. |

Hygienist
Have you ever heard the expression, getting long in the tooth? Well this refers to the damage caused by periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is a chronic infection that affects the gums and the bone supporting the teeth. If left untreated the tissues and bone surrounding the teeth start to break down. The result of this can be smelly breath, bleeding gums, and loose teeth which can result in tooth loss. While brushing and flossing at home helps the fight against gum disease, seeing a hygienist every six months is the best way to prevent and combat any gum concerns. Our hygienist will explain and show you the best way to keep your gums healthy, and your breath nice and fresh.

Tooth Whitening/Bleaching
Have you ever thought your teeth were looking a little yellow and dull? We can help with our tooth whitening systems. Whether at home, or in our office we can help to make your smile whiter and brighter. We offer two types of whitening procedures: Zoom Whitening and Take Home Whitening. Both options are extremely effective with great results however, for the more time conscious, Zoom Whitening can be done in our office, leaving your smile whiter and brighter in just 90 minutes. Take Home Whitening is a great option if you would like to whiten gradually and decide how white you would like your teeth to be.
Teeth Whitening will not damage your teeth at all, although it may cause some temporary sensitivity during the whitening process. Using Sensodyne or Tooth Mousse can help with this. Please feel free to ask us if you have any questions. |

Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment is the replacement of a damaged or infected nerve in a tooth. There are a number of ways the nerve can be compromised, leading to root canal treatment being necessary. These include deep decay, decay under a loose filling, a fractured tooth, a knock to the tooth, severe grinding and wear, and some types of gum disease. Root Canal Treatment involves the nerve of the tooth being removed with special instruments and the canal is cleaned out. This process may take more than one visit, and the tooth will be sealed temporarily between visits. When the root canal treatment is complete the tooth canal will be filled with a special material and the tooth sealed with a filling. Often it will be recommended that a crown should be placed over the root filled tooth in order to strengthen it and prevent chipping and cracking. |

Crown, Bridge and Implants
Crown:A crown is designed to strengthen teeth that are prone to breakage, such as heavily filled, root treated, or extensively decayed teeth. The crown is usually made of tooth colored porcelain or gold alloy and fits over the existing natural tooth and replaces the part of the tooth that can be seen above the gum line.
The treatment process involves two appointments. At the first appointment the tooth is shaped, reducing its size by one or two millimeters. We then take a series of impressions which are sent to the laboratory for the crown to be made. While the crown is being constructed a resin, temporary crown will be placed over the remaining tooth structure to protect it. At your final appointment the temporary crown will be removed and the permanent crown checked to ensure the shade and fit is correct and then cemented into place.
Bridge:Bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of an artificial tooth anchored to crowned teeth on either side of the gap. The process of constructing a bridge is very similar to the process of making a crown, as outlined above.
Implant:There are many reasons why you may lose a tooth, but you don’t have to put up with gaps or wear an uncomfortable denture. An implant is a safe and reliable way to replacing a missing tooth. They also can be used to hold dentures securely in the mouth. A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is inserted into the jaw bone during a short procedure under local anaesthetic. The screw then knits painlessly with the jaw bone, and a crown is fitted to the end of the titanium screw, leaving you with a new, natural looking tooth. |

Mouth Guards
If you are playing sport without a mouth guard you are at an increased risk of damaging your teeth! A mouth guard is a plastic, fitted device that covers the teeth and gums and can usually be designed to fit with your team’s color’s. This device is imperative in protecting your teeth from any accidents or injuries that may occur on the sporting field. Mouth guards offer protection not only against tooth and jaw fracture, but also helps to prevent concussions, and bruising and lacerations of the soft tissues of the mouth.
Mouth guards can be bought from the chemist and are less expensive than custom made guards, but will not fit satisfactorily. The fit of the guard is imperative as ill fitting guards can come loose and interfere with speech or breathing. They are also bulkier and less comfortable than custom trays.
